Our Story
Tucked away at 728 Queen Street West, Toronto, Café 23 was founded in February 2019 by partners Steve Lipari and Vanessa Sansonetti, who envisioned a cozy, artistic café that would feel like a hidden retreat in the city.
From the outside, Café 23 appears modest, but step inside and you’ll discover a beautifully curated interior filled with vintage chandeliers, antique mirrors, and nostalgic music magazines like Sonic Youth and Nirvana. The space unfolds into multiple levels, featuring a lush Japanese maple garden, a serene back patio, and a tucked-away rooftop terrace—perfect for unwinding with a cup of coffee.
Café 23 proudly serves coffee sourced from local roasters such as Hale Coffee and De Mello, alongside specialty drinks like lavender white mocha, iced Vietnamese coffee, and rose cappuccino. The café also offers a selection of plant-based and vegan pastries from Tori’s Bake Shop, Village Juicery, and Kate’s Town Talk Bakery, as well as fresh bagels from St-Viateur Bagels.
